MONICA SARAVANAKUMAR

 Sounds of Soul : Poem : Series 12 -

I AM NOT DADDY'S LITTLE PRINCESS!!!

When I fell down,

I wasn’t offered a helping hand.

I was taught,

To rise up on my own!

When I failed,

I wasn’t given a comfort zone.

I was taught,

To try, try, try and succeed!

When I needed something extraordinary,

I wasn’t provided with that.

I was taught,

The real importance of owning things!

When I was addicted to love,

I wasn’t showered unconditionally.

I was taught,

To truly love, even after a heartbreak!

When I wanted a ride,

I wasn’t directed to be dependent.

I was taught,

To drive on my own, taking people along!

When I wanted to hangout,

I was reminded of my freedom levels.

I was taught,

To enjoy within the limits!

When I stepped out,

I did not get to face the society’s good side.

I was taught,

To face the evil side, yet stay who I am!

When I met people,

I did not mingle seeing their standards.

I was taught,

To be good and treat everyone equally!

When I became a woman,

I did not expect anyone financially.

I was taught,

To work, earn and pay my bills!

I am not daddy’s little princess!

I am a warrior, a real princess!
